FAQ's
What is executive function coaching, and how is it different from tutoring or therapy?
Executive function coaching focuses on how students manage learning and daily responsibilities—not on academic content or mental health treatment. Unlike tutoring, which supports specific subjects, coaching builds skills such as planning, organization, time management, emotional regulation, and follow-through. Coaching is not therapy; it is practical, skill-based, and forward-focused.
Who is executive function coaching best for?
Coaching is a great fit for high school and college students, including student-athletes, who are capable and motivated but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or inconsistent. Many students I work with are neurodiverse (including ADHD, anxiety, or learning differences) and benefit from personalized strategies that match how they think, learn, and perform.
How does coaching work, and what is the time commitment?
Sessions are typically 45 minutes and held weekly to build momentum and lasting habits. I require a 12-session commitment because meaningful change takes time, practice, and trust. This structure allows students to turn potential into progress through consistent support, reflection, and skill-building.
What is the parent’s role in executive function coaching?
Parents play an important role, but coaching works best when students have a neutral, supportive guide outside the parent-child dynamic. This allows parents to step out of the “manager” role and focus on connection, while I handle skill-building, accountability, and strategy development. Ongoing parent communication is included so everyone stays aligned.
How do we get started, and how are sessions delivered?
All sessions are held online via Zoom, offering flexibility and consistency regardless of location. I operate as a private-pay service and offer monthly billing and sibling discounts. To begin, schedule a free 30-minute consultation so we can discuss your student’s needs, goals, and whether coaching is the right fit.
